With that being said, are dog treadmills the same as a dog walk? Do they hold the same benefits? Yes and no. Both variations are great at keeping your dog in shape, drain their energy and great at boosting their wellbeing. However, dog treadmills should only been seen as a treat and an aid but not to replace their daily walks. Dog treadmills are wonderful at focusing on high energy breeds to give them the opportunity to run until the hearts content and what would take you hours on a dog walk, could be done in an hour and under. But, a walk in nature drains your dog both physcially and mentally - the sniffs, the socialising and the scents - and it's free.

I'd recommend looking at facility that offers a dog treadmill service just so your dog can try it and see how they find it, it might be the thing you never knew you needed! Also, if you're someone who mainly takes their dogs to the treadmills, don't put dog walks in nature on the back burner, still honour them for what they are.
