Even Better, A Free Place To Train!
Just like us, most dogs hate the vets but we both hate it for different reasons. For us, it can quickly become an expensive trip out for us and for them, it can quickly ruin their day. However, a vet's waiting room might become your new favourite place.. it's because it's a great place to desensitize your dog by placing it in a busy environment and different dogs!
Still seems weird? Hear us out! A vet's place has regulated areas where it's advised each dog will sit in their own areas and as it's waiting room, the owners are wanting their dogs to sit still. These means each dog would be in their own 'zone', all waiting (as patiently as possible) and if a dog becomes too much, they are either advised to wait in the car or in a seperate room.
Whether it's 5 minutes or 10 minutes sit down, your dog will receive excellent exposure and vets' being vets, hopefully your dog will receive some yummy treats there too.
Understandably you would need to ask your Vet if they are ok with this set up and you will need to have a good understanding of your dog's capacity, like we said earlier, a lot of different dogs with different capacities and different personalities.
But other than that, the vet's waiting room might become your new favourite (training) place.
