Lickimats are in hot demand at the moment. With a massive focus on dog's wellbeing and their mental stimulation at the forefront, there's no surprise really. Here at Floofs & Friends, we love them - the concept is simple and effective, it's cheap and it's a great way to reduce your food waste AND you can prepare them in advance - what more can you love!
It's time to tell our favourite lickimat combinations to keep your dog happy - and even offer alternatives. Scrambled Egg: This one has been circling the internet for a while and it's an easy one to crack (pardon the pun). Simply whisk up an egg and pour it across the lickimat, microwave for 30 seconds and ping! It's ready to be enjoyed and perfect for some enrichment just before you head out. A dessert with a twist: You will see what we mean with a dessert with a twist... Scoop up some yogurt and Peanut Butter to make a base on your lickimat and mash or sprinkle across some frozen berries. You can then finish with some grated carrot or mix the carrot in with the yogurt. Not sure what berries your dog can eat? Read these suggestions. Eggs galore: Got too many eggs in the cupboard? Whisk up an egg to pour over the lickimat and add some banana mashed or sliced, and then for an extra treat, add a few pockets of salmon paste or pate. With all lickimats, you can increase the difficulty of the task by freezing or making the food more hard to eat, such as peanut butter. You can even start using this in replacement for a food bowl and start incorporating their kibble into the mat (particularly if you are worried you are adding too many treats). Lastly, if you haven't got a lickimat, there are alternatives: you can work with their food bowl, you could use ice cube trays and even muffin tins. Just because it's a popular product doesn't mean you can't find cheaper alternatives, it is all about reusing after all.
