Reasons why it’s a GOOD thing to bring your dog to the pub

This is undoubtedly a popular combination, even for the bystanders that get to point out a dog in the distance and watch it excitedly greet everyone as they walk past.
Humorously, it feels like the ability to take your dog to the pub is a milestone hidden amongst the basics of paw, command and sit. You know what, we are here for it and here’s why:
🍺 Pubs are an excellent way to encourage your dog to be comfortable and content in new environment, this means finding comfort with new smells, new people and new noises without being overstimulated.
🍺 To get to the place where your dog is settled in a pub is an impressive milestone (naturally achieved or not), this is because your dog has identified you as a safe space but also recognises when to be stimulated and when not to be. This should be celebrated on each visit (dog treats & praise galore).
🍺 Pubs can be a great training place and highlight any areas that might need to be worked on e.g. “leave it” or “relax” in social and/or personal settings.
🍺 You even challenge yourself to be able to identify your dog’s state of mind and behaviours to set boundaries where needed, especially if they are appearing overstimulated or showing signs of anxiousness.
🍺 With indoor or outdoor spaces available, it may even be the place your dog meets their new best friend (and you alike - nothing like a bond over good food!!)
🍺 Lastly, it’s a great day out! Paired with yummy food - hopefully a dog menu - and a walk. It could become the winning combination 🙌
Please note, pubs or other enclosed spaces might be just too much for your lovely dog and that’s fine, honour that boundary! Don’t bring them into a situation if you are setting them up for failure, whatever way that might look for you.
If you know your dog is not made for that setting but you miss a pub meal and drink, we offer Day Visits and Dog Walks to help you scratch that itch.
