The most important place to start - your brand!
What’s your business name going to be?
What’s your speciality? What qualities do you have that would make people love to have you as a pet sitter?
What service are going to offer and to what pets?
What’s your price list for these services?
What’s your availability?
Platform
With your branding sorted, next is to think about the platform.
Where are you going to promote your services?
Will you create a website? If so, what’s going to be the website provider?
What will you want your website to look like? and what’s the purpose of it?
Will you promote on social media? Instagram, facebook, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn - all, some or none?
How will you accept and manage bookings?
Business’y things
Now it’s time to think about the legalities, requirements and the desirable.
If you are a UK business, you need to register as a business on the GOV website and register for Corporation Tax.
It’s worth setting up a business card, we highly recommend using Mettle By Natwest to start off with. Will you look into getting an accountant?
Will you get a DBS checked and insured? Although it’s not essential as a pet sitter, it helps boost your credibility.
Time to set up your business page on google under ‘Google Business Profile’ to help clients can find you.
These are all good places to start off for the first 6 months and as you develop and grow, these questions will change accordingly.
